Lake City and Hinsdale County provide access to endless outdoor endeavors and recreational pursuits. With year-round access to public lands, residents and visitors enjoy many activities.
Lake City DIRT works to support the further development of outdoor recreation and related businesses in partnership with the Town of Lake City, Hinsdale County, and the Chamber of Commerce.
Lake City Ice Climbs
Expanded again in 2024, the Lake City Ice Park provides the perfect place to ice climb close to town. Managed by the Town of Lake City, the park is free to the public and easily accessible. Lake City Ice Climbs is open from December to March (weather dependent). The Town is working on farming more than one mile of climbable ice. Join us for an annual Ice Climbing Festival. Earlier DIRT mini-grants have helped with infrastructure funding and expansions.
Playground 25 & Town Park Restroom
Lake City DIRT is supporting Town efforts to install a new ADA playground and ADA, year-round restroom in Town Park in historic downtown Lake City, Colorado. More info and how to donate for the Playground found here
Pickleball Courts in Memorial Park
Lake City DIRT received a $1,000 San Juan Solstice grant towards new pickleball courts. The Town of Lake City and DIRT are partnering with the Colorado Main Street architect to design 3 courts. That design will be used to seek construction grants. Discussions about sound-proofing the courts in residential locations continues. Private donations for the Pickleball Courts in Memorial Park can be made directly to the Memorial Park fund overseen by the Lake Fork Community Foundation. Please indicate “Pickleball Court” in the memo line of the donation. Your restricted donation will be used as matching funds for construction grants. Donate today
